Summer Zoom Book Club - July and August books

We've decided to keep going with our Zoom book club meetings through this pandemic summer.   Here's the line-up!

July

Akin by Emma Donoghue is our selection for July reading.

"A tale of love, loss and family, in which a retired New York professor’s life is thrown into chaos when he takes his great-nephew to the French Riviera, in hopes of uncovering his own mother's wartime secrets."

Zoom meeting:   July 21, 8pm      Meeting invitation will be emailed several days in advance.

August

Our August selection is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

"Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed."

Zoom meeting:  August 18, 8pm.  Meeting invitation will be emailed several days in advance.

The Toronto Public Library has multiple copies and it may be possible to reserve a physical book when the library re-opens for pickups and returns on June 1st.   E-books are always available.

Chapters also has copies. Delivery may be slower than usual due to physical distancing in the time of COVID-19.

Stay safe. Stay home. Wash your hands. Read books.
