The Brain That Changes Itself
There will be no Book Club meeting in December. That gives us lots of time to read The Brain That Changes Itself by Dr. Norman Doidge.

Our next meeting will be at 8pm on January 11, 2010.
I will pick up the Book Club To Go set on Dec 2. Please let me know if you would like to borrow a copy. There are also lots of copies available through the general circulation books at the Toronto Public Library.

Book to read for November
The next meeting will be on November 23 8pm. We will be discussing The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. I will be picking up the Book-Club-To-Go pack of 12 copies on November 7th and distributing them to the first 12 people who have reserved a copy with me.
I've taken advantage of this wait to start reading Long Walk to Freedom by Nelson Mandela. This will be our selection for the February meeting. The Boston Sunday Globe said it "should be read by every person alive."
It's quite a hefty book - 625 pages. I'm only on page 43 and I'm totally enthralled!

Twilight and The Judge of Orphans

This month we are reading the book Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I've heard that it's hard to put down so I'm not starting it until after the BVA Annual General Meeting on June 16th.
The June meeting will be at Jane's on Monday, June 29 at 8pm.
We have something really special planned for September - a visit from an author!!!

Sally has invited author Rosemary Aubert to join us on Monday, September 14. We will be reading Rosemary's book The Judge of Orphans in preparation. There are 26 copies of this book available through the Toronto Public Library or you can order it online from the Chapters website (takes a few days to arrive).
Guests are welcome at this event but we do need RSVPs. Call Jane at 416-226-1390 if you would like to attend.
