January 2021 - February

Happy New Year and welcome to 2021!

This month we are reading February by Lisa Moore.  This book won Canada Reads in 2013 and appeared on the 150 Canadian books to read for Canada's 150th in 2018.

There is no book club set for this title, but there are multiple copies available at the Toronto Public Library.   Reserve a physical copy here.    Looks like there's also e-book availability.

We'll be meeting on Zoom on January19 at 8pm.    I will send out the Zoom link a day or so before.

Summer Zoom Book Club - July and August books

We've decided to keep going with our Zoom book club meetings through this pandemic summer.   Here's the line-up!

July

Akin by Emma Donoghue is our selection for July reading.

"A tale of love, loss and family, in which a retired New York professor’s life is thrown into chaos when he takes his great-nephew to the French Riviera, in hopes of uncovering his own mother's wartime secrets."

Zoom meeting:   July 21, 8pm      Meeting invitation will be emailed several days in advance.

August

Our August selection is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

"Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed."

Zoom meeting:  August 18, 8pm.  Meeting invitation will be emailed several days in advance.
